Photos from the very successful 1st Lisnagarvey Sports Awards Dinner held at Comber Road on Saturday 26th April. The pictures on the website are only web quality but anyone wishing to purchase copies can do so by emailing Paul Bonar at pr@lisnagarveyhockey.com stating the reference code of the photo you would like (save the picture to your computer and it will show you the reference code). The jpeg for each photo can be purchased for £5.00 each with all money raised going towards club funds, so please support the club by purchasing your picture today. Once you have the jpeg you can then print as many copies as you want and even use it as your wallpaper on your computer.

Irish Senior Cup Semi - 1sts vs Monkstown
It just wasnt Garvey's day. Monstown went 1-0 up within 15 seconds. Timmy Cockram brought the scores level after 10 minutes. Garvey then went in front through Mark Robinson, making the score 2-1. With only minutes remaining Monkstown equalised before they got the winner with a minute to go, to make it 3-2, avoiding extra time.

The Lisnagarvey fantasy league has been a great success. With 46 entrants - £230 WAS RAISED. This money will be divided up in the following ways: Manager of the Month - £10 per month. Overall Winner - £100 Runner-up - £50 Third - £25. So there is plenty of money up for grabs. The pictures shown, are the managers of the month throughout the course of the 07/08 season

Lisburn Sports Awards - October 2007
Photos of our winners at the recent Lisburn Sports Awards at Lisburn Civic Centre. Peter McCabe won a Merit Award for his services as Coach of Lisnagarvey Hockey Club for over 10 years. Howdy honoured for his service to Garvey
Howard Clarke was honoured at the recent AGM of Lisnagarvey Hockey Club for his immense contribution over many years as Player, Chairman, President, and since 1980 Hon Secretary. The Club presented Howard with a painting of the Comber Road facility by local artist A McKnight. Pictured: left to right Ian MacDonnell (outgoing Chairman) Howard and Brian McQueen Chairman.

Stevie Johnson donates his 1956 Olympic shirt to the club
On the 23rd December there was a ceremony in the club to mark the donataion of Stevie Johnson's Olympic shirt from the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne Australia. The club are very grateful to Stevie for this kind gesture and hope that its presence will inspire our stars of the future. The shirt will sit proudly between Jimmy Kirkwood's Soeul Olympic shirt & the Irish shirt of former Ireland Captain Alan Dowds.

Noel Marsden playing LIVE MUSIC - last Saturday of every month!
Noel Marsden will play LIVE in the bar from 5pm to 7pm on the last Saturday of every month during the season and members are encouraged to stay on and enjoy the craic!! Those of us who were there on Saturday 30th September for Noel's first visit of the new season had a thoroughly good time and the atmosphere was great!

The Andrew Lutton Honours Boards
Lisnagarvey Hockey Club were pleased to accept 2 Honours Boards donated by the Lutton & Lappin families in memory of Andrew (Andi) Lutton who died in a tragic accident at the Hockey Club in 1993 aged 12. Lisnagarvey Chairman Ian MacDonnell referred to the strong links with the Lutton & Lappin families and was pleased that one of the new Honours boards was for the Club Patrons with the current Patron being Jim Lappin – Andrew’s grandfather who attended the handover ceremony. The Chairman also remarked that the boards inscription referred to Andi as a “fine young man in the making” and would be a fitting tribute to Andrew within the Lisnagarvey Clubhouse.

Men's Eurohockey Trophy - Wettigen 2006

Paul Bonar looks pleased in these photos and well he should - the 4th XI fought a hard campaign and eventually took the title beating off stiff competition from Mossley 3rd XI in a playoff victory. A nailbiting game saw Paul's lads go into the lead only to let their opponents back in with a shout but yet clinch the title with a late goal. Match report available under the Men's 4th XI page.

Ladies 6th XI Winners of Minor Cup April 2006
The Ladies 6th XI defeated Annadale 4ths 2-0 in the Minor Cup Final held at the Dub on Saturday to bring the first silverware back to the club this season. Polly Black and Matilda Cousins scored both the goals to give the 6ths their victory, and end a great season for the team who have also won their league.
