Ireland needs you

Your Country Needs You
“I’m just not good enough to play for Ireland”.
This is the standard answer that most people give when asked if they are interested.
What’s the difference between you and the squad that travelled to Hong Kong for the world cup?
The only difference is that they had a go, they attended the training sessions and they put the effort and time into training, getting fit, and yes for some of us losing a little weight. Had they a good time, yes, will they do it again, most definitely!!!
We made a lot of friends in Hong Kong among the other teams. We were particularly close to the Australians and were amazed to hear that they have 22,000 over 40s to choose from for their national teams. Yes, twenty two thousand, 22k, 22 and three zeros, no matter what way you write it, there is a lot of choice for their 18 man squads.
So you see it is vitally important that we start down the road to being able to really compete against these teams and you can see why a 3-0 defeat to Australia was no mean task.
We need players, both male and female, to set up teams at 40s, 45s, 50s, 55s, and 60s, from all over Ireland. We will be holding practice sessions at various locations in Ireland from early 2010 in preparation for the 2010 Home Nations Plus, 2011 World Cup in Singapore, and yes even the special World Cup in London in 2012 to coincide with the London Olympics.
You can see it will be a busy year or two for us all and we would love you to be there.
Even if you are not quite the age to play yet or don’t play anymore we have the same requirement for support staff, managers, coaches, umpires, and physios.
So please, please, please email us on the link below with your details for a chance to represent your country and wear the green jersey of Ireland.
